evee, the all-electric car-sharing platform, was founded in Australia in 2016. Turo, an alternative car-sharing marketplace that accepts electric and petrol-powered vehicles, was founded in the US in 2009 before expanding to Australia in 2022.

evee vs Turo
A side-by-side comparison of fees and inclusions
evee’s pricing model is simple; you set a daily rate for your car and receive 65% as a host payout. There are no additional fees for renters.
Turo allows hosts to select their payout percentage (from a 65%, 75%, or 90% plan) with varying levels of protection. These rates are BEFORE rental fees.
Turo adds extra fees during checkout, so renters pay more than the daily rate set by hosts. This means that on the same* $587 rental, you would get $312 on Turo and $381 on evee.

On evee, if you charge $480 for a 3-day rental, you get $312 as a payout (65%). The renter also pays $480, which includes rental insurance.
Turo
On Turo, if you charge $480 for the same 3-day rental, you get $312 as a payout on their 65% plan (which we’ll use to keep it comparable to evee). The difference is that the renter pays more than $480.
The first extra cost is a $49 trip fee.
Turo doesn’t include rental insurance or protection in its advertised pricing, so renters need to pay a minimum of $16/day if they don’t want to be liable for the full value of the vehicle, which is an extra $48.
Sales tax isn’t included in the advertised price either. That’s an extra $10, bringing the renter’s total to $587 (while your payout stays at $312).
A $587 rental on evee would give you a $381 payout.
What does that mean for me?
While Turo’s plans offer you more flexibility as a host, their rental fees decrease the payout percentage. If you adjust your daily rate accordingly on evee, you’ll get a larger payout for a similar offering.
